Lesson 17 – What is OneLake Data Hub?

This blog introduces OneLake Data Hub, an easy-to-use tool that’s transforming how organizations manage their data. It’s like a central hub where you can easily find, understand, and use your important information.

OneLake Data Hub is a user-friendly tool that makes it easy for people to find, explore, and use Fabric data items in their organization. It provides a central place to access information, understand details about data items, and take actions through a customizable menu. Whether you’re looking for your own data or exploring recommended items, OneLake Data Hub simplifies working with your organization’s data.

Access OneLake datahub

• Launch https://app.fabric.microsoft.com/
• To access the data hub, click on the icon for OneLake data hub located in the navigation pane.

Options for finding fabric items using data hub

Once you select the Data Hub, the following page displays all the Fabric items associated with your tenant login. Data items can be conveniently accessed using tabs provided:

All Tab – Lists all data items available.

My Data Tab – Displays data items that you own.

Endorsed in Your Org Tab -Finds recommended data items in your organization that you’re allowed to view.Certified items are listed first, followed by promoted ones.

Favorites Tab – Lists all your favorite data items, identifiable by the star icon.

Filter by Keyword – Type the name of the file you’re looking for in the search bar.This narrows down your search process, making it quicker to find specific files.

Filter – Use the filter option to narrow down data items based on their type. Select the type of Fabric data item you’re searching for, streamlining your search results.

When you hover over the listed data items, a ‘More options (…) menu appears, giving you a list of things, you can do with that specific data item. This makes it simple to perform different actions on your data items effortlessly.

View fabric items by workspace

You can explore Fabric items using workspaces too. To see data items organized by workspace, just expand the Explorer pane and click on the workspace you’re interested in. The data items listed under that workspace will only include the ones you’re allowed to access.
